Just over two weeks home

We are home just over two weeks. Our kids overcome their illness and our life went back to normal. Wait the NEW normal and PERFECT.
I almost feel guilty to write this post and that is why it took me this long. As we prepared ourselves for our little Mei to come to our life by reading adoption books, adoption blogs and listening to all you adoptive parents - we expected the worst. We expected attachment issues, crying, shutting down, hating us, sleepless nights, biting, non eating and other issues. We had NONE. Our Mei just blended in our family with such easiness and joy. She actually made our family better. She loves her little brother and she is now excited about our dogs. Sorry doggies for the smacking from her, she does not mean it.
Yes we had some troubles sleeping first week, but who would not be unhappy after 12 hours time change, earache and temperatures around 103 F. Once her fever went away she start sleeping really well. She sleeps usually from 8:30pm to 8 or 9 am. Than she takes two naps during the day for hour or hour and half. Yes that is right! I wish I had lessons from her foster mom when I had Marco:)

We also did first tests in our pediatricians office and all the results except LEAD was good. She was just slightly over the value that is reportable. I believe that her level will be down within month or so.
The big thing that her tests shown is non existing Special Need. Her Special Need as she was labeled with in China is not there. We will re-run the tests in 6 months just to make sure, but as of now she is very healthy 15 month old. I know this does not happens very often in China Special Needs program, but it does sometimes. And I feel little guilty that we are such a LUCKY FAMILY to have her. And yes we are the LUCKY ones. She would make anybody happy I am sure of that.

Today we will have our first Post Placement visit. We will have to have 6 of them (I think). Basically the Social Worker will come to our house to make sure that Mei is not being abused and that we are giving her good home. She will write reports and they will be sent to China with some other documents.

Here are some pictures:

Mei's first boating trip, that made Daddy happy!

On the beach under the tent.

Two happy little towel bundles.

Mei and Marco teasing our puppy Hugo.

Meeting couple of cousins. And she loves them all!

I have to say it again and again - I am still amazed how lucky we are to have Mei part of our family.

  1. Totally get your emotions. Our little girl is doing amazing. It was hard in China, but since getting home she amazes how much she fits in with our family and adjusting to our schedule and life style. Her special need is not there either. She is healthy. We are so blessed!
